Vira Tezyk
Biography
Vira Dmytrivna Tezyk (maiden name Chetveryk) was born on January 25, 1942 in the village of Petrykivka, Dnipro region. In 1962, she graduated from the Petrykivka Children’s Art School named after Tetiana Pata, where her teacher was Fedir Panko.
Simultaneously with her studies, since 1958 she worked at the Petrykivka Painting Factory “Druzhba”.
Artistic Practice
Works in the traditional Petrykivka style. She belongs to a group of artists who were formed during the period of active work of the Druzhba factory - along with Volodymyr Hlushchenko, Anatolii Chernuskyi, Nina Turchyn, Liudmyla Shulyk, and others - and continued the line of classical Petrykivka ornamentation.
Recognition
Participant in regional, national and international art exhibitions. Her works are kept in the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art (Kyiv), the Dnipro Art Museum, and the Dnipro National Historical Museum named after Dmytro Yavornytskyi.
