Tamara Kudish

Biography

Tamara Hryhorivna Kudish was born on January 13, 1948 in Petrykivka. She received her first lessons in Petrykivka painting from her mother, Zoia Kudish, a second-generation master and student of Tetiana Patia. The tradition was passed on naturally, in lively family communication.

In 1963, she graduated from the Petrykivka branch of the Dnipro Children’s Art School, where her teacher was Fedir Panko. She also received professional art education, graduating from the Dnipro Art School in 1968.

After graduation, she worked as an artist at the Sinelnykivka Porcelain Factory in the Dnipro region, where she continued the tradition of Petrykivka painting on porcelain. In 1971-1986, she worked at the Dnipropetrovs’k Art and Production Plant. She also studied with Vasyl Sokolenko.

Artistic Practice

Tamara Kudish is an artist of a wide range: her Petrykivka painting is organically combined with book graphics, interior design, and porcelain work. She is an extremely productive artist who is not limited to one material or genre.

She designed many books, including the fairy tale Kolobok and the collection Strings of the Heart. She also painted interiors. She worked with porcelain at the Synelnykivka Porcelain Factory, where she transferred Petrykivka ornaments to a new surface with her own understanding of the material.

Recognition

Member of the Union of Artists of Ukraine (1972). Participant of the republican art exhibitions since 1964, international exhibitions since 1978.
