Anastasiia Chudnivets (born March 10, 1988, Petrykivka) is a master of Petrykivka painting and an art historian, holding a PhD in art history (2020). She is the daughter of master painter Valentyna Panko, granddaughter of the classic Petrykivka master Fedir Panko.
Education
She graduated from the Petrykivka Children’s Art School, Kryvyi Rih Pedagogical University (2010), and Kryvyi Rih University (2014).
Work
She has exhibited Petrykivka painting abroad: Brasília (2011), UNESCO Headquarters in Paris (2013), Zagreb (2014), Vilnius (2017–2019), Sofia, and Plovdiv (2017).
Major works: “Char-zillia,” “Yellow Asters” (2014), the diptych “Kupala Motifs” (2015), “Spring” (2019), “Motherhood” (2021).
Research
She researches the distinctive character of Petrykivka painting and the work of Fedir Panko and Nina Turchyn. She is the author of the video-performance series “Problems of Petrykivka” (2020–2021) and scholarly articles on kitsch in amateur Petrykivka painting and Petrykivka ornament in graphic design.
