Vilna Selianka Artel
The Vilna Selianka (“Free Peasant Woman”) Artel was a historic production cooperative in the village of Petrykivka in the Dnipropetrovsk region, founded in August 1929. Originally established as an artel of embroiderers, it later became the cradle of the revival and development of Petrykivka painting.
In 1958, an experimental workshop for underglaze painting on wood was opened at the artel, where prominent artists including Fedir Panko and Vasyl Sokolenko began to work. In 1961, the artel was reorganized into the “Druzhba” Petrykivka Painting Factory, which produced souvenirs, boxes, and decorative panels known far beyond Ukraine.
