Valentyna Panko
Biography
Valentyna Panko was born on August 15, 1960 in the village of Petrykivka, Dnipropetrovska oblast. She is the daughter of the outstanding master of Petrykivka painting Fedir Savych Panko.
In 1975 she graduated from a 4-year children’s art school, where her father was her teacher of Petrykivka painting. In 1980-1986 she studied at the University of Dnipro. Until 2013, she worked at the Petrykivka Folk Art Center. In December 2013, she left the Center and opened the Fedir Panko Museum in one of the rooms of the Petrykivka House of Culture, where she moved all of her father’s paintings. Since then, she has been the head of this museum.
Artistic Practice
Works in the traditional Petrykivka style, continuing the artistic line started by her father. She has had four solo exhibitions. She has participated in numerous exhibitions since 1978. One of her solo exhibitions was held in Kyiv at the Ukrainian Cultural Foundation (2012).
Recognition
Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine and the National Union of Masters of Folk Art of Ukraine. Founder and head of the Fedir Panko Museum in Petrykivka, a family museum that preserves the heritage of one of the key masters of the second generation of Petrykivka painting.
