Olena Zinchuk (born September 23, 1959, Petrykivka) is an artist of decorative painting and a member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (since 1987).
Education
She graduated from the Dnipropetrovsk Art College in 1978, studying under Andriy Pikush. Since 1994 she has lived in Montreal, Canada.
Work
She has taken part in regional, all-Ukrainian (since 1983), and international (since 1985) exhibitions. She paints in gouache and tempera on wood, using the material’s natural texture; her palette is built mainly around a red-orange range.
Major works: the panels “Bouquet” (1981), “Mallows,” “Roosters” (1982), “Wreath,” “Wild Rose” (1983), “Dahlias” (1984), “Blue Birds on an Apple Tree” (1985), “Bouquet of Yellow Flowers” (1987); the vase “Roses” and decanter “Pink” (both 1988); the barrel “Poppy” (1990); a pysanky series (1990–1994); the plate and chest “Wedding” (1984/1992, 1992).
Her student is Valentyna Karpets-Yermolaieva.
Collections
Her works are held in the Dnipro Art Museum and the Zaporizhzhia Art Museum.
