Anatolii Chernuskyi
Biography
Anatolii Chernuskyi was born in Petrykivka in the 1940s. The son of the second-generation master Mariia Shyshatska, Petrykivka painting was passed down naturally in the Chernusky family, from generation to generation. He studied with Fedir Panko and Vasyl Sokolenko, two of the main teachers who formed the third generation of Petrykivka masters.
He worked his way up from an ordinary craftsman to the chief artist of the Petrykivka Painting Factory (since 1988), the largest production center of Petrykivka painting in the Soviet era. After Sokolenko and together with Hlushchenko, he led the artistic line of the enterprise in its transitional period.
Artistic Practice
Anatoliy Chernusky belongs to the generation of artists who inherited the best features of Petrykivka ornamentation and developed them in their own author’s style. He works on paper and wood. His works are characterized by a variety of subjects and ornamental motifs - decorative panels, flower bouquets, thematic compositions.

Honored Master of Folk Art of Ukraine (1991). Participant of regional, national and international exhibitions.
