Dnipropetrovsk Professional College of Arts and Culture

The Dnipropetrovsk Professional College of Arts and Culture (formerly the Dnipropetrovsk Theater and Art College) is the first educational institution in Ukraine to establish professional training in the “Decorative Art” specialty, with Petrykivka painting as its key focus.

Students learn traditional techniques of creating Petrykivka ornament and applying it to various surfaces — paper, wood, and fabric. The college runs a dedicated Petrykivka painting laboratory, and its specialized subject commission is led by Honored Masters of Folk Art of Ukraine, who hold regular master classes and practical sessions. Faculty and students take part in folklore expeditions, documenting techniques passed down through generations and building exhibitions and digital archives.
