Uliana Skliar
Biography
Ulyana Skliar was born on January 1, 1951 in the village of Kolhospivka (now Ivanivka), Petrykivka district, Dnipropetrovska oblast. She studied the basics of Petrykivka painting with Vasyl Sokolenko and Fedir Panko at the Petrykivka Painting Factory and at the Experimental Petrykivka Painting Workshop of the Dnipropetrovs’k Art and Production Plant, where she worked for over 25 years.
Later she worked at the Petrykivka Folk Art Center. She died on March 23, 2001.
Artistic Practice
She worked in the traditional Petrykivka style. In her works, she continued the line of classical Petrykivka ornamentation - flower bouquets, viburnum branches, birds among flowers.
Recognition
Participant of regional and republican art exhibitions since 1970. Her works are kept in the Dnipro Art Museum, the Ukrainian National Museum-Archives (Chicago, USA) and in private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
