Mariya Pikush
Biography
Mariia Pikush was born on June 23, 1954 in the village of Myrne, Solonyanskyi district, Dnipro region. She works in the field of decorative and applied art - Petrykivka painting. She is the head of the Petrykivka Children’s Art School named after Tetiana Patia.
She is the wife of People’s Artist of Ukraine Andrii Pikush.
Artistic Practice
Among the well-known works of Mariia Pikush are “The Tree of Peace” (1975), “Garden” (1976), “Dahlias” (1977), “Rainbow” (1978), “Flower Bush” (1982). She has had five personal exhibitions. Participant of regional, republican and foreign exhibitions since 1984.
Her works are kept in museums of Ukraine, in the Ukrainian National Museum-Archives (Chicago, USA), as well as in private collections in Ukraine and abroad.
Recognition
Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (since 1984). Chevalier of the Order of Princess Olga, III degree (2007). Laureate of the Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine in the nomination “Decorative and Applied Arts” (2025).
