Contribution to Petrykivka Painting Research

Liudmyla Tverska is one of the leading researchers of Petrykivka painting of the late XX - early XXI century, an expert in its history, stylistics, and attribution. In her publications, she has examined the contemporary evolution of Petrykivka, including the transition from naive folk painting to refined professional craftsmanship-and the challenges of losing authentic simplicity.

The compiler of the catalog “Petrykivka Decorative Painting. Catalog of the Private Collection of Natalia Tihipko” (Kyiv: ADEF-Ukraine, 2012. - 283 p.).

She paid special attention to the problem of fakes and commercialization of Petrykivka, the distinction between authentic painting and mass imitation, a topic that is especially relevant in the context of the recognition of Petrykivka painting by UNESCO (2013).
