Liudmyla Horbulia

Biography

Liudmyla Horbulia was born on November 22, 1951 in the village of Petrykivka, Petrykivka district, Dnipropetrovska oblast. She graduated from the Petrykivka Children’s Art School, where her teacher was Fedir Panko.

Since 1966, she has been working as an artist and creative craftsman at the Petrykivka factory. Since 1993, she has been a teacher at Petrykivka Vocational School No. 79.

Artistic Practice

Works in the traditional Petrykivka style. Among Lyudmyla Horbula’s iconic works is the author’s “onion”, which is included in the logo of Petrykivka painting and has become a recognizable visual symbol of this art.

Recognition

Honored Master of Folk Art of Ukraine (1991). Laureate of the bronze medal of VDNKh of the USSR (1977), diplomas of the 2nd and 3rd degree of VDNKh of the USSR (1986). Participant of regional, republican and international art exhibitions since 1964. Her works are kept in Dnipro, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia art museums, the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art and the Dnipro Historical Museum.
