Lidiia Bulavin
Biography
Lidia Bulavin was born on March 4, 1959 in the village of Petrykivka, Dnipropetrovs’k region. In 1975, she graduated from the Petrykivka branch of the Dnipro Children’s Art School, where she studied with Fedir Panko. Since that year, she has been working in the experimental workshop of the Dnipropetrovs’k Art and Production Plant, now the Petrykivka Creative Association of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
She comes from the Statyva family - she is the sister of Valentyna Deka, Mariia Yanenko, and Nataliia Statyva-Zharko.
Artistic Practice
She paints various panels with birds and flowers with tempera on paper; she is a master of the technique of underglaze painting on wood (decorative vases, plates, caskets). She participated in the wall paintings of buildings in Kyiv, including the halls of the Mariinsky Palace and the House of Artists. She published a number of postcards, and her drawings were exhibited at the international traveling exhibition “Petrykivka Decorative Painting” (1979-1987).
Lidia Bulavyn’s works are characterized by asymmetrical composition, clear drawing and bright contrasting colors.
Recognition
Member of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine (since 1989). Participant of national and international exhibitions. The works are kept in the Dnipro Art Museum and the National Museum of Ukrainian Folk Decorative Art (Kyiv).
